391, Fajardo’s Cafe
6706 N 58th Dr., #Glendale,AZ 85301

Zip Hernandez sold his homeade Mexican food from this original location since 1949. Zip died of cancer in 2006 and the neighborhood lost a historic mark. In 2009 Alfredo Fajardo, son of Zip’s longtime cooks, Jesus and Beatriz Fajardo, decided to reopen the cafe using original recipes.

The building reminds me of someone’s house, complete with a yard, tucked in the middle of a residential neighborhood just minutes away from the downtown area where many visit the Glendale Glitters, Chocolate fest among other annual festive traditions.

I went to high school with Alfredo’s sister Angelica Fajardo Bowman, one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. Angelica, also an owner,  and works side by side with her family at the cafe. It’s evident their customers love and respect the Fajardos and the cafe.

Next time you are near downtown #Glendale, please stop in and treat yourself to wonderful homeade Mexican food. I have a particular craving for the chorizo breakfast burrito.

Like their Facebook page, where you can see their hours of operation. http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Fajardos-Cafe/126952959487?sk=info
