In 1957, ASU President Grady Gammage had a mission to create a distinct university auditorium. The school hired architect Frank Lloyd Wright to design the historic structure. Wright and Gammage died before the construction began. In 1962, Gammage’s dream was constructed at the hands of Grady Gammage Jr.

To date, the Gammage is one of the top touring Broadway markets in the country, and the Broadway Across America - Arizona series serves as an economic engine to the Valley.
