#140, Luhr’s Tower
1st Ave. & Jefferson, Phoenix, 85002

Opened in 1930, The Luhrs Tower served as an icon that represented to many Phoenix residents the transition from Phoenix as a small town to Phoenix to a metropolitan center and a great city of America.

In various areas of Central Phoenix, streets covered with green grass, bushes and trees make one feel they are in the forest.

#129, Luhrs Building
11 W. Jefferson, Phoenix, AZ

My favorite building from a visual standpoint, in Phoenix is the Luhrs building near Central and Jefferson.
The Luhrs Builidng is located in the heart of downtown Phoenix. It is a historic building, constructed in 1924 by a famous architecture firm Trost and Trost out of El Paso Texas. The building’s owner, George Luhrs was a local businessman who had funded the money to construct the building. For decades the Luhrs building housed law firms, insurance companies, and other businesses.
To date, a couple of law firms and public defenders rent space in this historic beauty.
#87, Full Circle
800 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85004

Circles Discs and Tapes was a music staple in downtown Phoenix for many years. In the 80’s, when cruising Central Avenue was the thing to do, Circles was always accommodating to the crowds.
For 38 years, people loved coming to Circles to listen to music and purchase music. It was a favorite among Valley DJ’s also.
Circles closed earlier this year due to digital competition and lacking sales in a struggling economy. All great things have their day.
Do you think this building should be preserved? http://www.modernphoenix.net/stewartmotor.htm
